The Launch of Scholrly: new search engine seeks to change the way people find research – The Ubiquitous Librarian – The Chronicle of Higher Education.

This sounds a little like the idea behind Academia.edu although they don’t mention it. Maybe a combination of Academia.edu and Google Scholar (which they say they hope to replace).
